A 69 years old physicist, now a retired pensioner, Valentin Ceausescu reappeared in public only yesterday, after agreeing to attend a meeting of former Steaua Bucharest football players, with whom he developed friendly relationships during that time, celebrating 31 years since their greatest achievement, winning the European Champions Cup in 1986. The meeting took place in Bucharest.

Valentin Ceausescu is the eldest and only surviving child of former communist president Nicolae Ceaușescu and his wife, Elena Ceausescu. He had two siblings, who have since passed away, Zoia Ceausescu (1949-2006) and Nicu Ceausescu (1951-1996).

He was born on February 17, 1948, and attended the Petru Groza School from where he graduated in 1965. During the following two years he was a student of the Faculty of Physics in Bucharest, after which he studied at the Imperial College in London.

In 1970 he returned to the country, engaging at the Institute of Atomic Physics, where he worked until retirement. He married Jordan Borilla, the daughter of Petre Borilla and the Jewish Communist Ecaterina Abraham, with whom he has a son, Daniel Valentin, born in 1981.

Valentin and Jordan divorced in 1988 and in 1995, Valentin Ceausescu remarried and has a daughter Alexandra, born in 1996.
