The Institute for Research into Superdiversity at the University of Birmingham is delighted to invite you to the conference EU Migration: taking stock and looking forward. We believe this is in the interest of all A2 nationals, who have been so negatively portrayed in the media recently. This conference brings together leading experts in migration as well as migrant support workers, and it will provide a brilliant chance to network and look forward to maintaining the integrity of Romanian and Bulgarian communities.
Migration is a phenomenon that has never ceased to make the object of media speculation and political debate. Now, more than ever, the prospect of another wave of mass-migration from Eastern Europe has turned EU migration into a highly volatile issue which, in turn, can place migrants in a vulnerable position. Our keynote speakers, Prof. Anne Green (Warwick University) and Dr. Carlos Vargas-Silva (Oxford University) will share their thoughts on the impacts of EU Accession migration to date and the prospects for 2014 as Europe’s labour markets open to Romania and Bulgaria.
They will be joined by delegates of the West Midlands Strategic Partnership, Migrants Rights Network and Migrant and Immigrant Rights Advocacy.
The event will take place on the 25th of March 2013 between 9:30 AM and 5 PM in Room G15, Muirhead Tower and will include a buffet lunch. We would love to have you with us on the day. To register, please visit: http://eumigration2013.eventbrite.com/
