Județe ( Counties) și frontiera dintre cele doua Irlande – Irlanda de Nord care face parte din Regatul Unit (United Kingdom) dar nu și din Marea Britanie, și Republica Irlanda care face parte din Uniunea Europeana, o tara indepedenta de UK.
În interiorul UE, atât Irlanda, cât și Irlanda de Nord fac parte din piața unică și uniune vamală, împărtășind astfel \/.aceleași legi, regulamente și standarde, permițând o frontieră moale sau invizibilă între cele două Irlande.
Ieșirea Marii Britanii din UE – luând cu ea și Irlanda de Nord care impreuna cu Scotia a votat sa ramana in Uniunea Europeana – riscă să revină la o frontieră fizica între Uniunea Europeana si UK.
Singura modalitate de a evita o granita dupa Brexit este ca reglementările din ambele părți să rămână mai mult sau mai puțin, identica, în aceleași domenii cheie, inclusiv produsele alimentare, bunăstarea animalelor, medicamentele și siguranța produselor.
„Întârzierea” din Acordul de retragere propus de Theresa May a fost menit să abordeze acest lucru – precizând că, dacă nu ar putea fi încheiat niciun acord comercial viitor între UE și Marea Britanie, atunci regulile și reglementările ar rămâne așa cum sunt.
Acest lucru a fost respins de suporterii Brexit ca o „capcană” de a ține Regatul Unit în uniunea vamală a UE, ceea ce ar împiedica Marea Britanie să semneze propriile acorduri comerciale independente.
Există aproximativ 115 km de puncte de frontiere pentru vehicule rutiere între Irlanda de Nord și Republica Irlanda, iar aproximativ 14% din aceste treceri sunt pentru mărfuri, unele dintre ele putând trece frontiera de mai multe ori înainte de a ajunge la un consumator.
Susținătorii Brexit spun că acest lucru poate fi gestionat prin verificarea mărfurilor aflate în afara graniței, însă criticii spun că va fi dificil să verifici acest lucru fără nicio infrastructură fizică precum posturile de frontieră ale camerelor CCTV, care ar putea aduce la tensiuni în comunitățile separate din Irlanda.

The vast majority of Europeans couldnt give a toss whether England leave or not.Then they resort to the anti-European rhetoric to try and justify their means. The tin pot government cant even agree with each other ,let alone form an agreement with Europe so before blaming others take a long hard look at youselves.

The files also disclose that it was decided not to fly the Irish flag at half-mast at Áras an Uachtaráin in the Phoenix Park, even though a similar gesture had been made on the death of US president Roosevelt three weeks previously.
A note by McDunphy states: “After consultation with the government and acting on the authority of the president, I called today on the German minister, Herr Eduard Hempel, at the Legation in Northumberland Road, and on behalf of the president expressed condolence on the death of the Fuehrer and Chancellor of the German Reich.”
In another note, dated May 7th, 1945, McDunphy writes that he raised with the government the issue of whether the Irish flag should be flown at half-mast over the Áras after Hitlers death.
